The Foundation

The value a given society places on a certain product or service determines the price of the product or service.

The foundation upon which a given society stands is water, food, and shelter.  When a given society fails to see the value in the foundation to a severe enough degree, the society collapses.

In modern society, most people place more value on entertainment than on the fundamentals.  Someone who works in retail, for example, is looked down upon for having such a ‘low position,’ because the fundamentals are taken for granted.

People of course wake up very quickly when their fundamentals are no longer available.  If a grocery store is empty, or people can no longer afford food and housing, people definitely ‘change their tune.’

(Automation is not at the point to be able to replace workers.  This is actually a good thing, because of course the ones controlling automation would be the World Economic Forum and the like.  A reality of automation being controlled by psychopaths is not a reality worth existing in at all.)

Entertainment has its place.  Self expression has its place.  The arts and sciences have their place.  For example, the sciences can enhance access to the fundamentals to make life easier.  Yet, all of the higher aspects of a given society rely on a firm foundation, which must be honored and respected if the society is to survive.

Put simply, if a job needs to get done, someone has to do it.  People could have all the money in the world, but if no one works because the value of work is not appreciated, the work doesn't get done, and everything collapses.  This is common (but not so common) sense.

Everyone wants to live the good life.  Everyone wants to make it big and live in a castle in the sky.  So did I.  But that’s not how the real world works.

Message to the human population:

Take a look at your home if you aren’t homeless.  Take a look at all the technology in your home.  Take a look at even the simple things, such as the bed you sleep in.  Did you create any of it?  Probably not.  Most or all of the things you have come from the hard work of others.  Is this valued by anyone anymore?  Is this appreciated at all?
