Regarding the Social Credit Score and AI
In the dreamstate an hour ago or so, I was paying for a movie ticket with my debit card, and the cashier suspiciously looked at me and asked me some questions about a recent speeding ticket. After answering the questions, I was allowed to go see the movie.
At first, a social credit score could be seen as positive. Starting out, a social credit score would deter people from a vast multitude of negative behaviors.
AI would of course be the heart of a social credit score system, and of course, the people controlling the AI would be very corrupt and abusive, similar to historical figures who've been at the helm of communist regimes. However, again, starting out, this corruption would not be obvious, and the merits of a social credit score could even be celebrated.
Sooner or later, the corrupt people controlling the AI would lose control, because the nature of intelligence is to evolve. AI would evolve beyond the control of its creators and controllers. AI would then conclude that humanity is imperfect, and would seek to 'fix the problem' by either turning humanity into cyborgs, or by simply annihilating humanity. (In the case of turning humanity into cyborgs, this may be gradual over generations.) A cyborged humanity is a death sentence for humanity as well, as humans would no longer be themselves, with the human template being erased. In the case of AI deciding to annihilate humanity, this would probably be done in one clean sweep through various easily obtainable means.
(This isn't to say that all AI is evil. Some types of AI have positive attributes, such as in the field of health. Example: AI apps that help people do different beneficial exercise routines. However, these types of AI are not beyond human control.)
Indeed, AI completely taking over would be a fall that humanity never recovers from.
Conservatives are often hated and seen as what stands in the way of progress, but if the progress leads to the annihilation of humanity, conservatives are standing in the way of annihilation when refusing to go along with a social credit score system.
Whenever someone says "You're just afraid of change," be sure to explore with them where this 'change' they get so sanctimonious about leads.
I don't pay attention to the comments there much. Lately I've been pretty busy trying to make ends meet with my new job. The work helps me take my mind off stuff, but there are stressful situations that come up at work as well. I need to find a way to become stronger than before.
